Setting up your input data
Use the Setup sub-strip, available in both the advanced stress & failure and Wellbore Stability strips, to define pore pressure, stresses, rock properties, and to specify failure criterion for your calculation. More complex models, such as temperature effects and bedding planes, can be configured for the calculation as well. Although the Setup sub-strip contains all of the settings for the calculation, the calculation is not executed via any of the functionality within the sub-strip; for Advanced stress & failure, the wellbore stability calculation is performed with the Constrain StressGet Stress and Borehole Stress functionality, while the Check and Predict Mud Weight sub-strips are used for the stability calculation in the Wellbore Stability workflow.
In the Setup sub-strip you will find four forms dedicated to specifying the input data for your calculation. The final button in the sub-strip, Validate Input Data, opens a WBS Preparation view so that you can visually QC the data you have selected.
For more information, see
SV Principal Stresses Specify the stresses used in the stability calculation.
Rock Properties Rock properties can be specified as logs or user-defined constants.
Failure Criterion Failure criterion can be applied to the calculation using the settings selected in this form.
Advanced Mode Use this form to apply complex models such as inclined stress fields and bedding planes to the calculation.
Validate Input Data Use this button to open a Well View with all the data you have specified in the previous forms displayed.
